Common Problems - Fibreglass And Resin Shell Swimming Pools
The most common problems with fibreglass pools are twisting, cracking, sinking and floating pool shells. The pool shell is designed to flex with ground movement, but ultimately cracks and structural failures do occur. Another common problem is that the pool is installed slightly out of level, or becomes slightly out of level after a short period of time due to migrating soil conditions and compaction.
Poor backfilling can cause problems down the road which are not immediately noticeable. Penetrations in the pool shell are fitted with compression gaskets which can leak if the pool flexes or migrates too much. This too can be a result of improper or inexperienced installation.
