Common Problems - Above Ground Swimming Pools
The problems most often encountered with above ground swimming pools are often a result of poor quality materials and installation. The filtration systems for above ground swimming pools are notoriously poor in design, however this is one of the concessions made in buying an economical swimming pool.
Settling ground conditions from the massive weight of the water can cause the pool to sink and become out of level in time. More often than not this remains an aesthetic problem more than a structural concern, however severely out of level and installation specification above ground pools can become a hazard and prone to collapse. The immense weight of the water in an above ground pool can not be understated, and so it is critical that the pool remains in good repair and is constructed to the manufacturers specifications.
Holes in the liner of above ground swimming pools are common since the vinyl liner itself is generally only 20mm thick where as in ground vinyl liner swimming pools have a thickness of 30mm or more. Wrinkles in the floor of the liner are common, especially in round above ground swimming pools, however these too are more of an aesthetic concern than anything else.
