Mechanical Requirements - In Ground Vinyl Liner Swimming Pools
The mechanical requirements for in ground vinyl liner swimming pools are very similar to concrete pools. The plumbing system is largely underground and a remote mechanical room is where the pump, filter and heater are generally located. The pump will range from 1/2 HP up to 2HP and the filtering medium is usually a silica sand filter. Also available are more expensive cartridge filter units which have better filtering capabilities.
Heating units are often gas or solar with the gas fired units ranging from 125,000 to 250,000 BTU's. There are a number of peripheral items which can be added to your mechanical installation such as chlorinators, salt water generators, automation controls, cleaning systems and more. Water sanitisation systems that do not rely on chemical treatment such as ionisation, ozone systems as well as organic and plant life systems are also available.
