Mechanical Requirements - In Ground Concrete Swimming Pools
Mechanical installations for in ground concrete swimming pools are very robust. While modest installations may have mechanical requirements similar to in ground vinyl liner swimming pools, more advanced installations require additional plumbing and mechanical systems such as surge and holding tanks, multiple pumps and filters, extensive automation systems, gas heaters and heat exchangers, geothermal heating and special plumbing materials.
Pumps range from 1/2 HP to 2 HP and one to three pumps are common depending on which upgrades you choose. Filtration still favours silica sand filters with some use of cartridge filter units. There are a number of cleaning systems for concrete pools from vacuums to permanent floor cleaning systems installed into the framework of the pool itself. Chlorination and sanitisation equipment can also be installed in your mechanical room to reduce the amount of time required for manually maintaining the pool.
